A fine date marked 1909 Howard & Co. Sterling silver covered sugar bowl. Founded in New York City in 1866.
In the early days the retailed fine silver from Gorham and decorative arts. By the turn of the Century, Howard Co. Had a location in Newport, Rhode Island, and London, as well as its famed Manhattan location. This late 19th century Howard Co.Bowl is 7 3/4 inches across handles 4 1/2 tall and a touch under 18 standard ounces. Interior retains the original gold wash.
