A very fine example of an early George III silver lidded tankard of beautiful baluster form decorated with reeding, raised on a stepped foot and having a domed cover with chair back thumbpiece. Engraved with a contemporary crest to the front of a seated greyhound and owner's initials to the handle, the scroll handle terminating in a heart shaped motif. The tankard is in excellent condition and is of the finest quality.

A really fabulous useable piece of Georgian antique silver. Full set of crisp hallmarks both underneath and within the lid. Maker's mark to the handle. Approximately 18.5cm to the top of the thumbpiece. Provenance: with Mary Cooke Antiques, London.
