Being offered is a truly vintage, Navajo Indian crafted jewelry necklace. The necklace is made of what are called bench beads. These were hand made of sterling silver.

The artisan would craft half beads on a work bench and then join the two halves and seal them with liquid sterling silver, giving the ridge look on these beads. These are vintage in that the ridges are more pronounced than the more recent bench beads produced in the 1960's and 1970's. Most Native jewelry now-a-days use machine made beads.

The beads have a die stamped pattern or design, similar to the Fred Harvey era jewelry. All the beads look in good condition, intact, and ready to wear.
