Vintage Made for Tiffany & Co Sterling Silver Purse Wristlet Wallet Coin Pencil
Be sure to add me to your favorites list! Stamped Made for Tiffany & Co. Sterling silver with 14k gold accents wristlet purse with removable leather interior and original sterling silver pencil with lead.
Raised Art Nouveau pattern of flowing scrolls and feather-like leaves throughout the front and back, with smooth sterling silver sides. Accented with 14k gold tab to open and both thick wires holding the wristlet chain to the purse (photo 3). Smooth oval area on front for monogram. Brown leather interior with 4 compartments: area for coins, a photo, calling cards and what looks like a note pad however it is plastic (white rectangle).
On the white plastic is penciled 1924 (photo 7 shows the plastic card that goes into the two slots shown). I do not know if this is when it was made, as this has such a strong influence of Art Nouveau era design, I believe this was made Ca. The pencil is marked sterling. Condition: The brown leather is fragile and has some staining.
It can be removed should you wish to use the wristlet without it. This has been very lightly cleaned so as not to remove the original patina. On the monogram area are two spots of dark tarnish. It's a little musty. I consider this to be in great condition for its age. As with all Tiffany & Co. Items, this is extremely well made. It closes with a snap, and stays closed.The makers mark on the left which has an arrow on each end is of Frederick Hoffman of New York, who made items for Tiffany & Co. Photo 12 shows the hallmark of: Made for Tiffany & Co. Metal: Sterling silver with 14k gold accents. Markings : 124 Sterling Made for Tiffany & Co.
On inside upper edge (last photo). Purse size: 3.5" side to side x 2.5" top to bottom x 1/2 thick. Chain : 6 3/4" hang length x 1/8" thick.Weight: 52.50 ozt (163.52 grams).
